Cat Shot

by on Feb.15, 2014, under Animals, Crime, Health, Weapons

A volunteer with the nonprofit organization One More Chance C.A.T.S. happened to be walking along a trail in Nisson Park in Washington City, Utah when he spotted an injured animal. catshot2 She was just laying on the ground, hiding under a bush," said Candice Zook, a volunteer with One More Chance C.A.T.S., an animal rescue group that spays, neuters and provides emergency care for injured stray cats throughout Washington County. catshot1 She had been shot by an arrow that passed through her face and into her body. A veterinary technician at the Washington Family Veterinary Clinic said the arrow looked to be about two feet long. “The arrow went in through her face to the left of her nose,” the technician said. catshot4 Initially, veterinarian Dr Jace King thought they would have to put the cat, described as a 1 year old lynx-point Siamese, down. catshot3 But an X-ray showed that the dart missed the cat’s vital organs, leaving her brain, heart and lungs, undamaged. catshot7 The arrow had gone through Quiver's head, passed through her esophagus, punctured a hole between her nasal passage and mouth, cut her tongue nearly in half and then came out of her shoulder blades. catshot9 The cat, named Quiver by the veterinary staff, underwent surgery to extract the arrow from her body. catshot10 Dr King sewed up the hole in her pierced palate and repaired the sliced tongue. catshot11 The sharp arrow left a half-inch diameter hole through Quiver’s nose and a wound in her esophagus, which was too deep for the doctors to patch up, forcing them to let it heal on its own. catshot12 Washington City police spokesman Ed Kantor reported that there were no suspects, and it's unclear whether someone shot the cat intentionally or recklessly. catshot13

What Boys Like

by on Sep.28, 2013, under Animals, Culture, Education, Family, Food, Health, Kids, Nature, Parenting, Recreation

We think the Sex and Affection comic does a good job explaining milestones of child development, and it would be a great opportunity for a bonding experience with your kids when you read it to them at bedtime. But we thought we could give you the same information without the explicit drawings and uncomfortable language. blc01 As boys grow, they show interest in the things close to them. From toddler to teen, a boy is all about his cock. blc02 As they grow up there might be some friendly "competition". D2D_Day1_Dairy Or just plain showing off. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA With some it's a passion. blc05 For others it's a fashion statement. County Fairs The pride is always evident. blc07 Then there's an intermediate stage where the boys learn new tricks. choke They grow older and broaden their horizons. They usually take on an entirely new interest. bc01 It becomes the focus of their attention. bc02 Most of the time. blc08 And that's okay too. Be proud of who you are. blc09 Most of the time. blc10

The Cat in the Hood

by on Aug.18, 2013, under Animals, Health, Nature

The BMW-1 series is a small high performance car with an engine that purrs. So you might not notice if there's a cat under the hood. princess04 Princess rode around for hundreds of miles before she was discovered. princess05 Julie Tansley of Nottingham, England noticed her cat missing on May 7. Although she searched she saw no sign of her cat in the following two weeks. princess07 She had been driving the car to search for the cat, and regular daily activities. She even had the car washed. When the red temperature light came on, she opened the hood to check the engine. princess03 She was surprised to find Princess, wedged tightly in the engine compartment. Most likely in an attempt to drink the coolant and kill herself, the cat had clawed through a coolant hose and caused the trouble that ultimately resulted in her rescue. princess01 It took about 45 minutes to dismantle enough of the car to get her out, assisted by her partner Trevor Lee, and a few friends. princess02 Although hungry and thirsty, and soaked with antifreeze, she was otherwise unhurt by the ordeal. princess08 Julie Tansley, the owner, commented, "She's alright now though, but she is really really thin as she hasn't eaten for two weeks, but she's happily eating and walking around as if nothing happened. Now we've got quite an expensive repair coming up, I don't know how but it seems she was so desperate to get out the clawed right through the hose. It has cost over £300 to replace that hose, so it's an expensive way to travel having your cat with you. It's just unbelievable, we took her all over Nottingham, I mean we've driven to and from school, work, even through the jet wash with her in there."

It’s How They Roll

by on Aug.18, 2013, under Animals, Nature

Adalwine, a ginger tomcat from Berlin, Germany, was looking for a place to nap. He squeezed himself into the alloy wheel of a BMW Estate but when Adelwine awoke he was still tired. adelwine01 "When the cat didn't return home at bedtime his owner spent hours looking for him until he heard a loud miaowing coming from a parked car," said police officer Ulrich Koenig. "We had to get fire fighters in with special cutting equipment to open up the wheel." This isn't the first time a cat has found himself in a tight spot. Casper was no more fortunate. casper01 Casper is from Suffolk, UK. He tried to bite and scratch his rescuers. casper03 Despite his reluctance, he was freed after about an hour. casper04   If your cat insists on rolling that way, you can always harness that energy safely with the Cat Wheel Toy-Go-Round. black_wheel_cat_white

Take A Spin

by on Jun.17, 2013, under Animals, Crime, Family, Health, Kids, Parenting

A few kids die every year from incidents involving washing machines. They're usually caused by accidents, like kids falling into the washer and drowning. sean-washer1 Sometimes the cause is more sinister. A French man is facing murder charges for stuffing his 3-year-old son into a washing machine and turning it on. Locals in the city of Meaux, about 25 miles east of Paris, said Christophe Champenois, 33, wanted to punish the child, Bastien, for acting out in nursery school, French newspaper Le Parisien reported. sean-murphy4 In Australia, three-year-old Sean Murphy was found dead in a washing machine along with his pet cat, Snowy. sean-cat2   Although mother and stepfather Kerry Murphy and Craig Sheppard deny any involvement in the death, police still consider them suspects. sean-murphy3 Ms. Murphy told St. John Ambulance officers that she found Sean inside a front-loader washing machine shortly after 2 pm. The door was closed and the dead cat was also inside the machine. Ms Murphy removed Sean from the machine and tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at Fremantle Hospital. sean-murphy2 Paramedic Natalie Jane  Collis said during the examination of Sean's body, Ms. Murphy repeatedly said she was "sorry" and screamed: "I've killed my child. I killed my baby. I know I did." The paramedic quoted Ms. Murphy as saying: "I didn't mean for this to happen." sean-murphy1 The court heard tests conducted on the washing machine indicated it would have been difficult to close the door from the inside, but Ms. Murphy thought the family's dog may have jumped and closed the door. It was well-known that he hated Snowy the cat.
