Burning Love

by on Dec.01, 2011, under Culture, Family, Health

Love makes people do silly things. People have come up with all kinds of ways to impress someone and propose marriage. Some are more dignified than others. But if you've already proposed, and have been turned down, choose your next romantic gesture carefully.

A man in Quanzhou, China broke up with his girlfriend two days earlier and was determined to win her back. So he climbed an electric service pylon in sight of her workplace to proclaim his love.

Part way up the pole he received a substantial electric shock and was pitched into the muddy field below. When emergency services, summoned by witnesses, arrived, they found his clothes to be burnt off his skin, but he was still breathing.

He suffered severe burns, but is expected to survive. His ex-girlfriend, meanwhile, called the stunt "too extreme" and found the power to reject his proposal.

The man is viewing it as a "cooling off" period for now.
